University of Oxford starts new Ebola vaccine trials
Clinical trials have begun for a new https://gymjuriya.cabanova.com/draft/ Ebola vaccine developed by the University of Oxford. The jab has been designed to tackle the Zaire and Sudan types of Ebola, which together have caused nearly all Ebola outbreaks and deaths worldwide. The University of Oxford has launched phase one https://ipressusa-39.webselfsite.net/ of its trials, testing the vaccine in human volunteers.
Ebola vaccines exist for the http://juriyausa.bravesites.com/ Zaire species but Oxford researchers hope the new jab will have a wider reach. Teresa Lambe, lead scientific investigator at the University of Oxford, said: https://www.spreaker.com/show/https-www-ipressusa-com-sponsered-tvolve "Sporadic Ebolavirus outbreaks still occur in affected countries, putting the lives of individuals, especially frontline health workers, at risk. https://soundcloud.com/user-445133579-635127391 We need more vaccines to tackle this devastating disease."
There are four https://www.provenexpert.com/tvolve-reviews/ species of Ebola virus that have been known to cause disease in humans. Of these, Zaire is the most lethal, causing death in 70% to 90% of cases if left untreated. The new vaccine developed by https://www.inkitt.com/gymjuriya Oxford scientists is based on a weakened version of a common cold virus that has been genetically modified so that it is impossible for it to replicate in humans. This method has already been used successfully in the Oxford-AstraZeneca https://groups.google.com/g/TVolvereviews/c/cRw5DlRCEDo Covid-19 vaccine.
Phase one of the trials https://www.kemovebbs.com/Thread-https-www-ipressusa-com-sponsered-tvolve-reviews will see 26 people aged 18 to 55 receive one dose of the ChAdOx1 biEBOV Ebola vaccine at the university. They will https://www.wattpad.com/1152966944-https-www-ipressusa-com-sponsered-tvolve-reviews then be monitored over a six-month period, with results expected in the second quarter of 2022. World Health Organization (WHO) staff were among 83 aid workers who sexually abused women and https://ethicseducationforchildren.org/en/discussions/https-www-ipressusa-com-sponsered-tvolve-reviews-1 girls while tackling the Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo, a report finds.
The abuses, which included https://www.folkd.com/user/ricjuriya nine allegations of rape, were committed by both national and international workers between 2018 and 2020. The report comes after more than 50 local http://www.authorstream.com/ricjuriya/ women reported sexual abuse. WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said it was "inexcusable". The 35-page report was produced by an https://www.businesslistings.net.au/Male_Enhancement/New_York/TVolve_Reviews/674532.aspx independent commission following an investigation.
The commission, https://goldssmithss.freeforums.net/thread/88/tvolve-reviews which interviewed dozens of women who had alleged they were offered work in exchange for sex, found that 21 of the 83 alleged perpetrators were http://tupalo.com/en/users/3256006 employed by the WHO. Local women were also allegedly plied with drinks, "ambushed" in hospitals, forced to have sex, and two became pregnant. The WHO http://www.techbizvideos.com/profile.php?u=ricjuriya said it was terminating the contracts of four people who were still employed by the organisation and promised more measures would be taken.
Speaking at a news https://www.classifiedads.com/office_services/28x56bd5g398z conference on Tuesday, Dr Tedros said the report made for harrowing reading and apologised directly to the victims and survivors. "I'm sorry for what was done to you by people who are employed by WHO to serve and protect you, https://www.deviantart.com/ricjuriya/art/TVolve-Reviews-897599222?ga_submit_new=10%3A1636622112 he said. "It is my top priority that the perpetrators are not excused, but held to account."
He said the responsibility https://www.expatriates.com/cls/49180849.html ultimately rested with him and promised to help support and protect victims, while vowing to overhaul the WHO's structure and culture. WHO Africa regional director Matshidiso Moeti also apologised to those who suffered "because of the actions of our staff". https://www.magcloud.com/user/ricjuriya She said she was "humbled, horrified and heartbroken" by the inquiry's findings.
The commission https://sketchfab.com/ricjuriya said it found "clear structural failures and unpreparedness to manage the risks of incidents of sexual exploitation and abuse" in the central African country. It said this was partly because of the focus on eradicating Ebola. More than 2,000 people died in the Ebola outbreak http://forum.zidoo.tv/index.php?members/ric-juriya.92626/ in DR Congo. The WHO, which spearheaded global efforts to curb the spread of the outbreak, declared it over in June last year.
Oxfam, one of the https://in.pinterest.com/pin/1024639352692397544/ UK's biggest charities, has dominated the headlines in recent weeks following allegations its staff hired prostitutes while working overseas. Since then, the https://jartexnetwork.com/members/ricjuriya.228793/#about story has continued to develop, with the Charity Commission launching a statutory inquiry - the most serious action it can take. Oxfam https://applecraft.org/community/members/ric-juriya.42751/ - which has nearly 10,000 staff working in more than 90 countries - denies any cover-up.
Here is a summary of the events so far:
Among the male staff https://xtremepape.rs/members/ricjuriya.318810/#about accused of sexual misconduct is Oxfam's then-director of operations in Haiti, Roland Van Hauwermeiren. He is alleged to have used prostitutes at a villa rented for him by the charity. In a statement, Oxfam denies claims of a cover-up. It says the https://forums.prsguitars.com/members/ric-juriya.40589/ behaviour of its staff was "totally unacceptable".
The charity says it https://mc-drugs.com/members/ricjuriya.25209/#about uncovered the accusations in 2011 and immediately launched an internal investigation. According to Oxfam's own 2011 report, four members of staff were dismissed and three, including Mr Van Hauwermeiren, were allowed to resign before the end of the investigation. https://www.scoop.it/u/ric-juriya It says claims of underage girls being involved were unproven.
The Charity https://letterboxd.com/ricjuriya/ Commission says it was not given full details about the use of prostitutes by aid workers. It says it would have acted differently if it had known all the facts. In a fresh story, the Times says Oxfam did not warn other aid agencies about problem staff caught using prostitutes. It emerges that Mr https://about.me/ricjuriya Van Hauwermeiren went on to work elsewhere in the aid sector.
Oxfam's chief executive, https://www.ques10.com/u/353883/ricjur472/? Mark Goldring, says the charity did "anything but" cover up the incident. But he admits the 2011 report released by the charity did not give details https://www.dotafire.com/profile/ricjuriya-104928?profilepage of the revelations, and only referred to them as "serious misconduct".
Oxfam is hit with https://www.degreeinfo.com/index.php?members/ric-juriya.97518/ further allegations that staff on its mission to Chad, also led by Mr Van Hauwermeiren, used prostitutes in 2006. The Sunday Times also reports new claims alleging more than 120 workers from UK charities were accused of sexual abuse in the past year. https://ello.co/ricjuriya/post/w_wjzrzaejqmd-jpddkn5q Meanwhile, Oxfam announces new measures for the prevention and handling of sexual abuse cases.
Oxfam's chair of trustees, https://jozoo.co.uk/cv/102078 Caroline Thomson, says staff members had been coming forward with "concerns about how staff were recruited and vetted" following the recent media reports. https://quomon.com/Question/Preview/3802033 International Development Secretary Penny Mordaunt warns that ministers could cut off funding for Oxfam if it cannot account for the way it handled claims. https://moz.com/community/q/user/ricjuriya
